finished one glove

I want a bind off that has more stretch than the normal knitted bind off…for practicality if I actually want to wear these

bound off using:
k2, slide these two sts you just knitted back onto your left needle, k2togtbl, 1 st on right needle now
k1, slide these two sts you just knitted back onto your left needle, k2togtbl rep til the end

finished knitting main body of second glove, just need to bind off and knit the thumb

Should have noted this earlier cause it took me so long to figure out where I left off in the pattern but at the part where you are about to split for the thumb, I worked one round of row 9 on the chart before doing the set up row to split for the thumb (that counts as a rep of row 1 of the chart) — this way all the eyelets are kept equidistant from each other
tldr what I did;
ON last rep of body BEFORE splitting for thumb: ROW 8 (where you add your st markers) —>ROW 9 —>set up row (counts as ROW 1)
(it’s possible this is how it was intended to be knit but I interpreted the pattern wrong)

bound off body

this second glove is slightly smaller than the first, I think probably since I’ve changed my knitting style to flicking since knitting the last one…in general the gauge is a little tighter than I like so maybe if I were to make this again, go up a needle size or two

finished thumb and wove in ends, will block tomorrow

this second glove is quite a bit tighter than the first, but also quite a bit neater. not enough of a difference to be able to tell when wearing though. while I prefer the neatness on my second glove more, the fit of the first is actually much more comfortable. in a way, it’s quite neat to be able to see visual progress of my technique and tension achieved within the year :)

if I were to make these again, I think I would go up a needle size so the fit is less tight. that would also allow for a less stretchy bind off so that would look neater as well.

blocked following these instructions on the cardiff cashmere instagram

  1. soak in a lukewarm water + gentle detergent mix for 15-20 min
  2. carefully lift out and press out excess water with a towel
  3. lay flat to dry, stretch to shape as desired pins ok, careful to not overstretch

will take nicer photos after I do my nails
