My original imagining of the Manuscript Cowl!

The dark contrast color ribbing is reminiscent of the dark leather binding of many medieval manuscripts, and the allover colorwork pattern gives the illusion of curves, gesturing toward the the fine line pen flourishing featured in the excised initial.
