12/5 Chose this pattern as a thank you for a Melanie Berg test knit and today I went stash diving for yarns to knit it with… initially wanted to go with greys and accents, but the calm of these natural colours spoke to me and some of them have been floating in my stash for quite some time… lace yarns I will knit doubled up.

Oh my goodness I love how this is knitting up!! The little bubble stitches are so clever and fun to knit, and it is so addictive knitting stripe after stripe… almost impossible to put down! Up to the end of the first striped section by a little past midnight and I am rather tired but quite pleased with the stripes!

13/5 have made it to the second stripe of the second band of stripes today - and have also realised that I started with the wrong main colour!! Oops. Never mind this is an easily adaptable pattern so I’ll change colour when I need to, to make the main colour yarns work.

28/5 back to this after a break finishing other WIPs.

30/5 finished third stripe section - now just garter stitch and then final stripes. Hoping I can finish this before the end of May…

8 Jan 2021. I can’t believe it was early summer the last time I knitted at this! It’s taking an effort to remember what I was doing but nice to pick it up again and hopefully will be able to finish this quite soon - I don’t know why I put it aside so close to the finish. Oh yes, now I remember. It was 2020!! Well, onwards and upwards now - I want to wear this soon!

11 Jan. I’ve just finished the last stripes section and now it’s just garter stitch for a while, 2 more stripes and bind off - another 44 rows to go. Perfect mindless knitting

12 Jan. Finished! Currently a crumpled heap of gorgeousness waiting to be transformed by blocking tomorrow. Hurrah!

14 Jan. I am totally in love with how this has blocked up - it’s huge, soft, warm, drapey and everything I love about a shawl - although my daughter tells me it’s big enough to be a blanket. Perfect
