Notes

1st version:

  • garter ridge every 6 rows.
  • yarn held double
  • gauge:

thumb

I used GraceIvy’s thumb instructions but instead of increasing on the plain knit rows I increased on the mitering rows. I found that this makes it easier to remember as one row is just knit and the other you do all increases and decreases.

top decreases to create a more rounded top

  1. I did one decrease (just left out the m1’s in a mitered round) about 6 cm (18 rows) above where the thumb separates. (down to 44st)

  2. The second decrease 6 rows after that (down to 40 st)

  3. The third decrease 4 rows after that (down to 36 st)

  4. Then I did the mitering decreases on every row until I had 16 st left.

  5. Then I did an decrease at the start and middle and end of a part (so 8 decreases per round) until there were 4 stitches left.

  6. Then I pulled the yarn through the last four stitches.

This seems quite complicated but it made a well fitting top.
