Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
From the Toe Up are a pair of socks, exactly as the name says – they are knit from the toe up. Starting out with just a few stitches, the toe is shaped and created through increase stitches.

Named after the Norse winter goddess, Flickers of Skadi is a seamless, two-colour cowl knitted in the round. The geometric shape which emerges from the stranded colourwork was inspired by icicle shards. An effective contrast between light and dark emerges from these pointy slithers, creating the perfect combination for an eye-catching cowl to k...

If a Mermaid Had Feet is a pair of toe-up socks inspired by exactly what the name implies. What would it look like if a mermaid actually had feet? In my imagination, they would start off with smaller scales that gradually get bigger. This image is what I used to design these socks.

Up, Down and All Around is a pair of socks where one sock can be knitted cuff-down and the other toe-up, yet both socks turn out absolutely identical. Perfect for those with Second Sock Syndrome or for trying out a new style of sock knitting.

The song “Edelweiss” embodies several of the most moving scenes in The Sound of Music. In Captain von Trapp’s poignant vocals, we hear his aching love for Austria and, at the end of the movie, his deep sadness at having to leave his beloved country. Edelweiss mitts are a lovely textured interpretation of the flower and song, with a simple-to-wo...

I Will Think About it Tomorrow Socks are a pair of toe-up socks inspired by one of my favourite fictional characters, Scarlett O’Hara, of Margaret Mitchell’s Gone with the Wind. Her famous quote of “I’ll think about that tomorrow” is a concept that reminds me of socks made with an afterthought heel. You can just keep knitting and knitting and t...

Time for Tea Socks are a delightful pair of toe-up socks. Lately hand-dyed, speckled yarns seem to be popping up all over the place, so I designed these socks to take advantage of these beautiful skeins.

Emma Ashleigh is a top-down, semi-circular shawl named after a family friend. Starting with a cluster of yarn-over stitches, these eyelets continue to radiate out from the centre and down throughout the body of the shawl. Once the body is completed, there is a line of yarn overs before beginning the lacy border.

Movie Marathon Socks are my go to version of top-down socks. There is generally always at least one pair on my needles. Since the majority of these socks are knit in stockinette stitch, they are great for when you want a fun knit without having to give them too much attention. Perfect for when binge watching that gripping TV show or having a mo...

Twisted Pumpkin Vine Socks are a pair top-down socks knitted in the round. Starting after the cuff, the pumpkin cable continues down the leg and foot, ending before the toe. As the pumpkin cable is on the outer edge of each sock, there is a slight difference between the instructions for the left and right foot.

Clustered Sea Glass (previously named Conversational Hearts Hat for Three Irish Girls’ Eunice’s Choice Club February 2015) is a slightly, slouched hat knitted in the round. Starting at the rib and working up to the crown, this hat is a quick knit due to majority of the body being knitted in stockinette stitch, with only a few rounds using the c...
Knitting: Cowl
This cowl is a fantastic design for showing off multi-coloured yarn due to the stitch pattern. The little cable stitches create an effective textural pattern that is easy to create making this a quick knit. The slipped stitches provide pops of cream, grey and aqua throughout the body of the cowl. These three colours remind me of an icebox that ...

Growing up there has always been lilacs in the garden. You know spring has arrived when they are in full bloom. When wet, windy weather was approaching, often the flowers were picked and brought inside, perfuming the whole house; so they wouldn’t get destroyed by the storm.

The inspiration for these socks came after talking to my godmother, Maree, whose nickname is Sweet Pea. Then looking outside the kitchen window at the garden where the first of the spring sweet peas were shooting up.

These socks were designed in honour of the lovely and incredibly talented New Zealand artist, Annabelle Rodger, who designed my logo. Since she has a granddaughter named after her, it was only fitting that there would be sizes for children in this pattern. Therefore this is where the name Big & Little Annabelle comes from.

These top down socks are a perfect pair to add to your sock drawer. They follow a basic sock outline but the detail of the lace zigzag pattern gives them that special touch.
