“It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out of your door,” he used to say. “You step into the Road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there is no telling where you might be swept off to.”
Knitting: Baby Blanket
Cuadrícula is the Spanish word for grid. The prototype blanket was knitted for the second son of an Archaeologist and his Art Historian wife, so I tried to convey both parents in the blanket. It has a center checkered part representing a dig site’s grid and two geometrical lace bands at the side’s for a more artsy decoration, it’s surrounded by...

Enbata is the basque word for sea storm. While I was knitting it one of my students said that it resembled something marine, like seaweeds and bubbles. We thought about a name and after a brief brainstorming Esti came with the name, Enbata. It sounds strong, bold, but the shawl still has a delicate feel about it.

Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
Galtzerdi Potoluak is the basque way to call bulky socks. They’re not traditional, I just love stranded color knitting and have very cold feet sometimes even in summer. This socks can be used as slippers! Or to go to sleep with toasty toes…

Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
This mittens were knitted on a whim, I had this gorgeous handspun alpaca yarn that I was given in a sock exchange, black and white, sitting in my stash and I felt the urge to do something with them. The yarn is so buttery soft that my hands demanded something made for them. So Hotz were born, Hotz means Cold in basque, and you can knit them as ...

For the Star Wars fans out there, those who need to pilot their TIE in the cold space… because even Sith Lords deserve some loving knitting.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
Iparraizea is the north wind in euskera. This cold and unrelenting wind that brings bad weather and calls for cozy hats and indoor knitting after a cotton knitting summer. I tend to like big and slouchy hats and this one is one of those, you need to knit it with a slightly bigger needle than what’s expected for worsted weight yarn. It is a loos...
Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
The first iteration of this fair isle socks was knitted for my partner in the Swapetines 2016 sock exchange. When I finished them I decided to knit another pair and write down the pattern and Itsaertz (Seashore) are the finished and a little altered socks.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Izadi was designed last spring while I was pregnant. Then the baby came and the pattern was left in the backburner. Shawl was finnished, named after my testknitter Gurutze’s daughter, tested, but not blocked nor photographed. Now, with spring here again, I think is time for this little shawl to come back to life. It can be a stash busting patte...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Kattalin is a summer shawl, made with cotton I had lying around in my stash, left overs from other proyects gathering dust. So If you can gather enough left overs, cook this one! It’s tasty!

Knitting: Vest
Otarrea is the basque word for basket, as the main pattern of this little vest is a knit and purl basket pattern. It’s a one skein vest, for a 2-3 month old baby, so it is a good stash diving pattern for that stray dk yarn skein that fell off a bigger pattern.
Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
More often than not I don’t take notes while knitting and I end up needing to read my own knitting when someone asks for this or that pattern. This is one of those ocasions, I only had the chart! But I’m very set in my habits and I tend to knit all my socks similarly so this what not a difficult reading! I call this socks Queen of Spades, like ...

Sometimes we forget the amazing work museums do in storing and redistributing knowledge and traditions of old. The San Telmo is a museum in Donostia-San Sebastian, a place where they keep all manner of bits and pieces, ethnological data that would be lost otherwise. Some time ago they published a book about the XIX century bed covers of Tolosal...

Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Spring is here! And is time for lightweight knits and bright colors. This shawlette was designed on a whim, quite improvised, but the result was so cute, that I needed to make a pattern of this.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
When looking for a name for this pattern I knew I wanted it to be related with sheep, but my inspiration wasn´t working with me. I share my fiber study with my mum, a painter, crocheter and jack of all trades and I asked her for a name related with sheep. She suggested Bolingua.
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
A new twist for an old pattern. Using the bold lace pattern used in my cowl Bolingua, I designed this easy, chunky and rustic looking mittens. No thumb, no knitting in the round, just a straight forward knit, and sewing to finish.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Dominika is the Basque version of the female name “Sunday”. This pattern was designed to be used with the specific traditional Basque dress style called “Caserita”, were you’ll be wearing a “toquilla” or shoulder shawl.

’ve always been a huge Scy-Fy fan, and since the first time that I read Frank Herbert’s Dune I’ve been fascinated with Princess Irulan Corrino.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
The shawl is named after its first recipient, my brother Josu. He is a very creative guy, a very talented photographer, and I didn’t want a simple scarf so I gathered a lot of aran yarn for a huge shawl and this is the result.

Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This shawl/scarf is more of a recipe than a pattern, I love free style knitting but sometimes I take notes! This shawl/scarf is one of those take-anywhere projects, a veritable no-brainer, just to relax away.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Keeping with the rustic theme, Sumendixa is another baserri in my hometown, Eibar. I remember being a little girl and going there with my grandpa, who was a member of the tradicional Sociedad, with the same name as the baserri. Winters in Eibar can be quite dreary and this shoulder wrap will keep me warm while I knit or spin in my studio. As a ...
