Knitting: Scarf
Hey math nerds. Don’t you love that triangle whose side lengths are in a 1:2:√3 ratio? Haven’t you wanted to knit one?
Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
Based on a machine-knit jacket stitch pattern. The sock itself is extremely simple, and the stitch design going up the middle of the foot is sort of like a more open seed stitch, with yarn overs appearing to criss-cross behind.
Knitting: Cowl
If you look at any waffle-print undershirt or pair of long johns, you’ll find this stitch. I was dismayed that the stitch was not replicated in hand knitting, or at least was not readily accessible to me. That may have something to do with it being double brioche knitting, a not-so-common stitch. So I wrote it up, and made a cowl of it.

Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
If you’re looking to knit something new, this might be it! Utilizing the “continuous star stitch” technique, the ridges that swirl up the arm and over the back of the hand will literally stand out and give the gloves a fantastic three-dimensionality. The added bulk of the ridges more than make up for the eyelets in terms of warmth, and your han...

This li’l guy is a project that is both very fast and very cute. Perfect for a last-minute gift or to use up that small ball of yarn that’s just wasting space in your stash.

In addition to the yarn, you’ll need stuffing material and something for the eye(s) or any other facial characteristics you want to add. Felt, buttons, embroidery floss, that sort of thing.
