You don’t need a pine tree or to venture outside for these knitted pine cones. Knit in the round, the pine cone scales are built as you knit. Each pine cone uses around 15 yards of worsted weight, which makes them perfect for stash busting.

This design was inspired by the valley where my parents live in Colorado. The colors are evocative of the sunsets and the forest fires that occur there during the summer months. I designed this hoping that you will make it your own out of colors and yarn that bring you joy.

I love big eyelets (I cannot lie…), and I love how eyelets knit up in this Aran weight yarn. You can also used a worsted weight yarn. The eyelets will still be delightful.
