With the feeling of spring in the air I suddenly felt the urge to design a pair of wrists warmers in fresh spring colours. The wrist warmers are worked in the round. The stranded knitting technique (no more than two colours per round) is used.

The headband is knitted in the round, starting and ending with a small ribbing. The stranded knitting technique is used combined with purl stitches to create little ‘dots’.

THIS COSY colourwork scarf has been designed by Hilly van der Sluis to be the perfect stashbuster project! The design takes its influence from both classic Fair Isle patterns and from traditional Swedish stranded knitting. Hilly has used 10 shades of Jumper Weight organic Shetland wool from Uradale Yarns, but the patterns can easily be adapted ...

These fingerless mitts are inspired by the rippled textured and soft shades of the oyster shell.

The design for the Shetland meets Bohus tam is based on the patterns used in the Shetland meets Bohus mittens. These mittens were published in Shetland wool Week Annual volume 5.

July 2023 - an updated version of the English version of the Ripples sweater has been uploaded. This new version contains some textual improvements/clarifications for the decreases for the neckline (front and back).

This scarf is knitted in the round (like a tube).

The inspiration for these fingerless mitts came from the traditional Fair-Isle motifs and these beautiful colours of Uradale yarns that made me think of a golden sky at dawn.

The blanket is worked flat in garter stitch and cables. The pattern is reversible. The cables create nice edges to the blanket.

Erratum: in rows 10-12 and 32-34 of the chart continue the pattern repeat of 4 stitches for the small motif until the end of the row instead of starting again at the first stitch of the chart after having worked the first 26 stitches of the pattern repeat.

The Merry Christmas stocking is knitted top down (from cuff to toe) in the round, using the stranded knitting technique. The heel is worked flat using short rows. Afterwards Christmas baubles are embroidered on the Christmas trees.

Vita’s wrist warmers are the perfect project to use up small amounts of leftover yarn. Any 4ply sock yarn can be used.

For this blanket Uradale DK, organic Shetland wool, is used. The centre panel of this blanket is worked in the round with a steek and is cut afterwards. No more than two colours are used per round (stranded knitting). The border is worked in the round as well, using three circular needles.

The lace pattern of this shawl is inspired by the Chelone Obliqua, also known as turtle flower. The edges are worked in seed stitch.

This hat is worked in the same pattern as the Jakob mittens from my book Uradale mittens/Uradale wanten

These mittens are called Eilidh, named after the model wearing them. There are small ‘cables“ in the cuff as well as in the hand.

In this pattern ridges are made to give an interesting texture.

Linties (twite/common linnets) decorate the outside of the mittens and the palms of the hands are designed in a graphic pattern. The pattern is charted.

Het patroon voor deze shawl werd in 2016 gepubliceerd in Trui Magazine. Dit magazine wordt niet meer gemaakt. Het garen waarmee de shawl destijds werd gebreid is inmiddels ook niet meer verkrijgbaar is.

Patroon voor baret in Fair Isle techniek in 7 kleuren Jamieson’s Spindrift. Van de meeste kleuren is slechts een klein beetje garen nodig (niet meer dan een half bolletje), dus het is ook een ideaal project om restjes te gebruiken.
