Knitting: Beanie, Toque
This pattern is an offshoot of my other beanie patterns. Suggested yarn weight is fingering/light sport. The pattern features a corrugated rib followed by stockinette, both in stranded colorwork. Instructions for varying needle size and yarn weight will allow for variety here, as seen in the samples section and as described in the pattern.

In terms of the knitting itself, the flag is done in intarsia using cotton yarn of any gauge, and incorporates optional buttonholes for flag attachment. This is the follow-up to my Basiita Beanie: Salaam version, here using a square-kufic Arabic medallion that reads “Malcolm X”. The logo this is derived from stems from a project that our Beirut-based artists’ collective completed a few years ago: Malcolm X Returns.
