Knitted flat on straight needles in chunky weight yarn. A quick project that can be completed over a weekend. Make longer for arm warmers or keep short for hand warmers. Pattern includes instructions for knitting gloves all in one piece with a thumb and separate pattern instructions for knitting with a sewn inset thumb.

A quick one square project knit in bulky weight cotton t-shirt yarn. A textured surface is created with alternate knit and purl stitches. Make just one as a trivet or several for place mats.

This blanket was designed for the Stylecraft Blog Tour 2016. ‘Beach Huts’ colour way uses seven colours of Special Chunky yarn. Knit and purl stitches are used throughout to create blocks of squares in bands of colourful stripes.

This fish was designed for The Net Loft fibre arts retreat in Cordova Alaska. The colour work pattern was inspired by a diamond net motif from the Moray Firth Gansey Project. The fish is knitted in the round with crochet fin details.

A cowl with a geometric Fair Isle design reminiscent of split logs stacked ready for the fire. Knitted in the round on circular needles it would make an ideal first colour work project. Bands of colour add interest to the simple pattern repeat. The cowl is knitted in DK weight yarn, using rich warm colours with golden highlights throughout.

Two tone fingerless mittens knitted in aran weight yarn. The cable wristband is knitted first on straight needles in a contrast colour. The main hand section is knitted in the round. Moss stitch border decorates the edges.

This simple chunky circular scarf is knitted in the round on a circular needle using knit and purl stitches and 5 strands of dk yarn held together. Worn in a wraparound ‘figure of eight’ style.

First published in March 2012 on Hand Knitted Things Blogspot this colourful Fair Isle inspired tea cosy features little houses and panels of hearts. It’s worked with 11 colours of Jamieson’s of Shetland DK weight yarn.

A flattering style women’s hat. This beret knits up quickly in chunky weight yarn. The headband is knitted first to fit the head circumference. Stitches are picked up from along the head band edge to make the crown which is knitted in the round on double pointed needles.

This reversible cushion cover has a single colour scheme on one side and multi colours on the other. Crochet cord crosses decorate the textured knit fabric. Simple crochet bobbles fasten the ends together and add extra interest to this lovely cushion.
