Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Life got in the way of being able to do an Advent KAL for 2022 so instead we are going to do an Epiphany KAL for 2023. This is a lovely square lace shawl using traditional Shetland lace patterns and worked from the center out then finished with a knitted on edging.
Knitting: Scarf
My Advent 2021 KAL reflects two things -- working full time and dealing with carpal tunnel in my wrists. This year’s KAL makes soft warm and cozy scarf that works up quickly in dk weight soft alpaca. Since I wasn’t up for making a full shawl this year, I decided to explore variations on the traditional Shetland lace pattern of Old Shale. I work...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This makes a square hap shawl. The center square is worked as a diamond from corner to corner fading thru 5 colors. Then you pick up around the edges of the square and work an old shale border with 2 repeats of old shale in each of the 5 colors.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
this will be a very laid back, no stress KAL -- we will focus on sharing our progress to keep each other virtual company and give us something positive to work on.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
A Hap-inspired Pi style shawl to knit in time for Christmas. I will release each day’s part of the pattern beginning 12/1 and finishing with bind off on 12/24.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This is a traditional Hap shawl that’s made from the center out. It starts with a center diamond, then has an Old Shale border knitted in the round, and finally a knitted on edging with a rosebud in each point.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This is a KAL with the goal of a lovely finished hap by Christmas day.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
A fun little shawlette with pi shawl shaping. It was inspired by a recent trip to Maine and a lovely skein of yarn I found by a local dyer that she called “lobstah”.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
A fun shawlette I made for Valentine’s Day. It’s a quick knit, using only 100 gm of dk weight yarn on size 9 needles. I used 2 coordinating colors of yarn, but it could be made in all one color and look nice as well. It uses all of the yarn of the 2 skeins of Hikoo. It uses a modified pi shawl shaping and so sits on your shoulders nicely. Make ...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Horseshoe lace is one of my favorite lace motifs. This shawl began as a Christmas gift for a coworker made out of a single skein of String Theory Bluestocking I picked up on vacation in Maine. It turned out so beautifully that I had to make myself one and wrote up the pattern. It uses Elizabeth Zimmerman’s pi shaping to make a “half-pi” shape w...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This is a fun little shawlette I designed in honor of St Patrick’s Day. It is a modified pi shawl shape with 4 leaf clover and horseshoe lace patterns in it. It only takes 2 skeins of dk weight yarn so it knits up in a flash. Perfect as an accessory shawlette over a coat or to warm your shoulders on a chilly summer evening. May the luck o’ the ...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This is a variation published with permission of Alyssa McFarland’s pattern Sleeveheart, from her site Coiled to Spring and available as a free Ravelry download. I LOVE this pattern and making it got me started on an obsession with half-pi and pi shawls. I wondered how the pattern would look in a self-striping yarn like Noro and made a few modi...
Knitting: Table Runner
This is a beautiful table accessory. You can make it as long as you like -- 1 skein makes a table runner 14 in. wide by 34 in. long. Silky Wool is one of my favorite yarns. With all of the colors to choose from, you can make a table runner to match your decor and every season too.
