Fiddling around with my Christmas tree pattern to see if I could make it a little smaller. Somewhere I saw a ceramic candy corn tree and decided to work out a crochet version.

This is a little Christmas tree with a secret compartment for the base.
Crochet: Hanging Ornament
This is a little partridge in a pear tree ornament I worked up for small coworker type gifts. This one is made with Lion Brand bonbon metallic yarn using a 2.5mm hook and measures a little under 4 inches from tail to top.

I’ve always loved those ceramic Christmas trees and thought it would be fun to work one up. This is the same pattern as my 70’s tree but without all the fussy decorations.

Last year I worked out a basic Christmas tree and modeled it after the displays at Biltmore House. This year I changed the basic pattern to be worked in a continuous round. It works up faster and it’s easier to decorate since it ends up with a spiral pattern so stringing tinsel or lights works better.

I needed to whip up a couple of quick Christmas gifts and came up with this little gingerbread man. The legs are a bit off because I’m not the best at the sewing together part but I think he turned out cute. Besides, he’s a prototype and prototypes are always a bit hmm experimental.

Background: I was determined to find a way to make a tabletop Christmas tree. I looked up patterns in books and downloaded patterns online and some were great and I ended up with some cute ones but nothing that worked quite right for me.

Most of my patterns come from my not being able to find something I’m looking for so I make it up, take notes along the way, and write it up.

Just a quick little Nutcracker pattern that I had fun making up

Just a quick, basic little gingerbread house / box that I had a lot of fun working up.
Crochet: Doll
I made this pattern to use for a little Thanksgiving decoration but I’m kicking around the idea of playing with the colors a bit so I may use this as a basic doll pattern.
Crochet: Containers
This is a variation of my simple pill box. I wanted to work out how to turn it into a few different designs and this is the first one I came up with.
Crochet: Containers
This is a basic pattern but when I had the idea to make something like this I didn’t really see anything out there that was quite what I wanted. I’m planning to work up some variations; apple, owl, cupcake, snowman, christmas tree. I’m not sure just what yet but a basic pill box seemed like a necessary first step.

I wanted to make a little piñata for cindo de mayo and couldn’t find a pattern so this is what I came up with. He measures one hand tall, ok 4 inches at the withers or 6 inches from ground to the top of his ears and is roughly 4 inches long

I originally made this little cake for a coworker’s birthday. It works up pretty quickly and was a lot of fun to decorate. I describe what I did as far as decorating the cake but you can get pretty creative. I found it helpful to look at some pictures of cakes online and then went from there.

I created this design for a friend whose husband was graduating from UNCC. I also used it to create a little App Stat Yosef. You can get pretty creative with the colors and shirt designs and adapt him for a lot of different mascots.

This is about a 4 inch version of Elsa from Disney’s Frozen
