Inspired by the natural sky display of the auroras, the Northern Lights uses gradient yarn to mimic the beautiful curtains of color. This charted pattern is worked in the round from the bottom up using stranded colorwork. Duplicate stitching is then used to add the finishing touches with the light trails.

This hat is done with a tighter gauge to fit in detail. Pattern may require more of the Chroma yarn depending on where the gradient starts.

This pattern does have big spaces between colorwork so plan for long float management such as ladderback jaquard or even duplicate stitch for the more tricky parts. This hat only uses two colors per row, but the buildings are arranged in a way to still bring depth with limited color use.
