Being announced as part of the #ThreeequencyKAL The ThreeequenSki Cap takes the staccato patterning of the Threeequency Pullover and pairs it with the delightful slow fade of Spincycle’s Dyed in the Wool.

In Collaboration with Knit 1 Chicago and inspired by the flittering, flashy colored hummingbirds that love to swarm my grandmother’s porch, the Ruby-throated cowl will bring the warmth of summer to your neck all winter long. A charted slip stitch and cable-knit design, you’ll hold only one color for each row alternating which stitch is prominen...

The Oscillator Gaiter is a quick, garter stitch project, knit flat, then connected with Kitchener stitch and finished on both side with an I-cord edge. Lore is a toothy dk-weight yarn that feels slightly rustic but has the structure and warmth needed for exactly this kind of project.

On December 21, 2020, the Winter solstice, Jupiter and Saturn will come within 0.1 degrees of one another, forming the cyclical, 20 year, great conjunction. When these planets are aligned we can expect the end of one era and the birth of another, the intensification of old forms dying as new growth and fertility replaces them.

Perhaps like many new knitters, the first item of clothing I made for myself was a beanie. A simple beanie is a great “palate cleanser” and a simple way to use up a spare ball of yarn you love, but don’t have enough of for a larger project.

The Prairie Window sweater is inspired by prairie style art glass windows, specifically the window work from the, Frank Lloyd Wright-designed, Dana-Thomas Home, near my hometown in Springfield, IL. The motif conjures the movement of sumac branches and the stillness of snow. This design boasts stranded color work, top-down sweater construction w...
Knitting: Cowl
A botanical, “high fashion” design from Tommy Schafer, featuring oblong bobbles and “self-fading” stranded color-work, sure to keep your attention span and “couch lock” you until it’s finished!
Knitting: Cup / Mug
I love finger-less gloves but I hate cold finger tips.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
The Mitosis Toque is stranded color work hat knit in the round, bottom-up in worsted wool, specifically the new Ranch 02: Forbes Rambouillet line from Brooklyn Tweed.

One of my favorite places near my hometown is a Frank Lloyd Wright designed home built for Susan Lawrence Dana, an heiress and feminist socialite who was known for her spooky séances and love of the occult. Her home is one of the best remaining examples of Wright’s prairie style and in this particular home resides what I believe to be some of h...

This simple beanie design is knit using my favorite method, Brioche Stitch, forming a fluffy and thick fabric that is lightened by the cotton in this gorgeously soft yarn. All sales for this design will be donated to the AIDS Foundation of Chicago to raise money for their marathon team the Team 2 End AIDS (T2EA). The AFC supports HIV prevention...

Utilizing a a technique I call Stranded Marling, the YesSurii Cowl incorporates suri alpaca fiber with some stitches, but not others, resulting in a spray of color that pops with eye-catching texture. Floats of the baby suri on the “wrong side” line the inside of the cowl with a baby-soft lining that keeps you warm and comfortable in the cold.
