Christiane Eichler

Chris Eichler was born and bred in Cologne, Germany, where she also spent several years at the University. She is now living and working in München (Munich/Bavaria)

She does not remember a time when she did not craft. She has done lots of fiber and non-fiber crafts, but knitting, spinning and tatting are now her favourites. She is someone who almost never leaves a pattern alone, looks for ways to improve them or make them compatible to her taste.

Chris learned how to knit from two Grandmothers and her mother, plus her elementary school teachers. She had school classes in fiber crafts up till grade 6. She learned the basics of several crafts there. In her teenage years she used to knit or crochet while listening to classes, which was quite common in Germany during the late 70s and beginning 80s. She taught herself how to knit socks in 1985, inventing her own way to do the heel because she couldn’t make sense of the instructions she had.

She is very much inspired by the Internet and all its possibilities. She loves to design especially socks. Her basic recipes for socks are available online for free.
