I returned to knitting in 2005 after a long break, I learnt to knit from my mum who is my knitting hero! I’m not exclusively a knitter, I’d describe myself as a textile artist, as my work is stitch in some form or another.
When I initially started to knit again I was a bit tentative about what I tried, I knew I didn’t want to knit sweaters. After a bit of trial and error I rediscovered lace knitting, and this year learnt how to knit socks.
I felt the need to design some socks to use a sock club yarn and I used it as way of applying my textile design skills to my knitting. My designs are usually inspired either by my own photographs, or the yarn I’m working with. I use stitch patterns with lots of textures to create my unique designs.
