Before I learned to knit, I crocheted for many years. A co-worker taught me during lunch one day. She was taught by her grandmother and I loved that she was sharing this craft with me. I was immediately drawn into the spirit of the craft. Playing with color, choosing patterns, making mistakes, ripping out and eventually making something, all of this drove me to learn more. For years, I wanted also to learn to knit. When I did learn, I became more serious about the possibilities of the craft. I love the problem-solving, the mathematics, learning about choosing the right the yarn, the camaraderie of my local yarn store and the generous sharing of knowledge between knitters and generations.
