A bit about me
Some time ago now I did my BDes(hons) in Constructed Textiles. It was 3 years of fun with knitting, weaving and tapestry, but also a lot of hard work. In my first year I won the Rowan Hand Knitter competition with my design for a chenille hand knit sweater. I will try to fish out a picture and post it if anyone wants to see my design! During my degree I discovered my love of felting things & some of my final degree show consisted of felted machine knitted scarves with inserts of autumnal leaf motifs in 100% cotton chenille.
After my degree I worked for a Scottish Knitwear firm as their in-house designer and learnt how everything is worked out to be manufactured on a BIG scale ( a real eye opener to a freshly graduated student). I saw my sweater designs produced & then sold to stockists round the world…. which was so exciting!
I was born and grew up in the UK but in May 2012 we realized our dream and moved across the Atlantic to rural Nova Scotia, Canada where my wonderful husband, I and our 2 gorgeous children now live.
I have been totally obsessed with designing and creating my whole life. I learnt to knit at the age of 5years and shortly after my parents wonderfully gave in and bought me my first black and gold hand operated singer sewing machine - a lovely little 2nd hand straight stitch one. As a child I spent many afternoons happily cutting, pinning and sewing new clothing creations for my dolls from scraps of fabric and sometimes even paper!
My parents thought my interest in sewing and knitting was probably a fad and in time I would most likely lose interest.. but as the years passed by - my interest only deepened. My skills grew far beyond those early years of play & by my mid teens it was apparent that this wasn’t a fad but the start of a lifelong passion. I am completely fascinated with vintage clothing from centuries past… from their intricate heirloom embellishments & construction to the amazing undergarments & amazing corsetry!
In 1990 I won 1st prize in the Rowan Hand Knitting Designer Competition while studying my Bachelor of Design with Honours Degree in Constructed Textiles. After Graduating in 1993 I worked in the textile industry as an In-House knitwear designer before leaving to take the plunge to start out on my own. So now I design, write and create to my hearts content while looking after our family.

These days I’m a stay at home mum of Finn & Grace and wife of a fabulous husband that just about copes with my endless hoarding of yarn, fabric, beads, buttons, embroidery threads, sewing machines, overlockers, books & drawing stuff to name but a few!
I love to design & create so many things I sometimes find it hard to concentrate on just one craft… but my love of crochet never fades. I’m really excited to be publishing my own patterns and selling them on Ravelry & Etsy. So I hope you enjoy my them and that you’ll stop by from time to time for a chat :) & say hello!
