JJCrochet was first started in 2004. The “JJ” part of the name comes from my first and middle names, Jayna Janelle. Because my family sometimes calls me JJ, which conveniently rhymes with Crochet, the name seemed like a natural choice.

I learned to crochet when I was 8 years old, but really picked it up when I had scoliosis back surgery in the summer of 2003. As I spent the summer recovering from surgery, I passed days crocheting one hat after another.

The following year, I looked at my pile of hats and announced I wanted to start a crochet business. My parents nodded, bought me the first installment of yarn and a website domain for my forming business (JJCrochet.com), and here I am, still crocheting years later.

It’s by God’s grace and unchanging mercies that my business even started. He’s given me these fast baby hands and blessed me with this opportunity, and for that, I’m grateful.
