I have been crocheting for nearly 30 years, teaching crochet for over a decade. My designs and articles have been published in published in magazines and books, including Interweave Crochet, Crochet!, Crochet 1-2-3, and Inside Crochet. My children are my Muses. I made my award winning Mystery Machine for my 8 yo son, and at 3 1/2, my daughter’s favorite toys are her “yarny dollies”.
I designed Rowan’s Learn To Crochet Sampler Afghan in memory of my first daughter Rowan, who would have been 5 this year, as well as my Reversible Rowan Tree Vest, which won the Grand Prize at the 2012 CGOA Design Competition. Both were featured last summer in an art show, Bearing Witness, Healing Pregnancy Loss and Infertility through Creativity.
With the help of my local MOMS Club I started the Remembering Rowan Blanket Project to donate handmade baby blankets and other crocheted items in memory of my daughter Rowan. Each year we donate at least a few baby afghans to local NICUs in honor of Rowan’s birthday, as well as collecting other crocheted items to Foster Children and even the Humane Society. Last year we made Scarves for local Foster Children.
