Liz Cademy

I began knitting when I fell in love with a pattern in my Mom’s McCall’s Needlework. My Mom taught me the basics, and I was off -- but nobody ever told me an allover cable cardigan wasn’t a beginner project! I went from that straight to a 3 color stranded pullover vest worked in the round, and I haven’t looked back since.

I was interoduced to design when my PBS station aired EZ’s Knitting Workshop. That was over 30 years ago, and I’ve been knitting and designing ever since, my own designs or heavily adapted patterns from magazines and books.

My favorite techniques are stranded colorwork and knitting in the round, using any method. I’ve tried almost every technique I’ve seen, just to see how it works. I am a product knitter — I need to be making something, not just knitting to knit. Considering how long I’ve been knitting, I have very little stash — mostly leftovers from other projects. I sometimes call myself a knitting geek — I am fascinated by the tools, the geometry and theory of knitting, and love to figure out how it all works. Ever hear of someone knitting sweaters in her head? That’s me!

Whenever I knit something I’ve designed or adapted, I write up my own pattern, in standard format. I’ve recently decided to edit these patterns for sale. Take a look at what I have available. Feedback welcome.

I’ve taught knitting to kids and adults, and led both lecture presentations on knitting and help clinics. This lets me know what information knitters want in their patterns, and I write my “for sale” patterns with this in mind.

I’ve started producing knitting books and ebooks. I currently have two ebooks for sale, Kitchener Stitch and American Abbreviations. They can be found at Amazon and Smashwords.

I know how to crochet, but get thumb cramps if I crochet for more than 5 minutes. I also do graphic design (I have a shop at Zazzle, Cartesian Bear), chain mail, and website design and development.
