Melissa Simpson

I am also a SAHM to my son, Zackary (7 years old) and daughter, Katarina (5) and Addyson Joy (2). I have been happily married to my husband, Ben for 8 years. We live in the Silicon Valley in Northern California. We homeschool our kids, so my days are always filled with craziness and fun with projects occurring at all times!

I opened DaKine Knits in December of 2008 and have happily been knitting away for many wonderful mama’s. It has been such a joy to get to know and work with so many different people, and has really given me a creative outlet. I joined the A La Mode Congo on Hyena Cart in the summer of 2009 and have gotten to know more about running a business and advertising, and of course many more talented artisans. In January 2010, I invited my best friend Nicole and my mom Beth to open up a shop on HC with me and the rest is a WIP. In 2011 we won the Spotted Box WAHM award in the Best Knitter category, such an honor to even be nominated! Now our focus is less on custom/instock knitting but creating and designing new patterns and we are trying our hand at some yarn dying which just might make a debut in a Etsy store near you soon. ;)
