I’ve been silent for too long. I am only 1/4 Ukrainan, but I was raised by my grandfather, a Ukranian, who was also WWII veteran. He was my everything, my mother, father, and God Almighty… He fought against fascism. He told me a lot about that war, about those heinous crimes those nazis and their Ukrainian aids did in Ukraine. Thousands of Jews, Ukranians, Poles, and Russians died there from the hands of so-called Ukrainian Liberation Army. They killed half of the village he lived in. Children, women, they were all killed like a livestock… And right now, it is happening in Ukraine again. And what’s most frightening, nobody says anything. “Civilized” world behaves like those three monkeys that see nothing, hear nothing, and say nothing. Dead silence… Journalists from Western Europe, have any of them even been there, in Donetzk, Luhansk, Slavyansk? Have any of them even cared to wonder what happened in Odessa and Mariupol? What is going on there is not a conflict between pro-Russian and pro-Ukrainian forces, it’s a WAR. A war that pro-Fascists forces wage against Ukrainian people. Those people that came to power in that country are not Ukrainians, no matter what they might call themselves, because Fascists do not have ethnicity.
I love Ukraine. Ukrainian was the first language I spoke, thanks to my grandfather. I grew up listening to Ukrainian lullabies he sang to me. I used to visit that beautiful land every summer. I could never imagine that nightmare happening, goodness no. My relatives live everywhere from Dnepropetrovsk to Nikolaev and Odessa. I don’t want them to get killed , I don’t want anyone to get killed there or anywhere else just because they live on the territory of national interests of some big country. Watch the documentary, and think. If we do nothing today, tomorrow it can happen anywhere. We must stop it somehow.
