By vocation, I am a teacher, by inclination, a student of human nature. Illness forced retirement upon me in 1997 and I am now a research historian/writer - when I can find the time.

I live for part of the year aboard an English narrowboat, with one husband and a gorgeous PatterdalexJack Russel terrier called Ron.

My designs

I needed some very easy garter stitch patterns for demonstration purposes at the local knitting group that I co-manage. I couldn’t find any that would be of use in the very first stages of teaching how to cast-on, knit, cast-off, so I started designing my own.

I look for yarn that is easy to use for someone new to knitting; something that creates enough interest and pay-off for all those plain garter-stitch rows.

My designs have moved on to projects that are still relatively simple but take the learner forward by introducing new techniques and skills. Once a teacher, always a teacher…..
