Sarah Hoadley
I taught myself to knit at the age of ten and never looked back. I have been designing for myself and friends for a number of years but have only recently started to do it professionally. I am currently doing freelance designing with Lion Brand Yarn and selling a few patterns at my local yarn store, Knitwits in Chanhassen, MN.
My design philosophy is to make items that are unique, enjoyable to knit, but ultimately wearable or usable. I am a “form follows function” person. I gravitate more towards the use of texture and cable but like color as an accent or enhancement. I like to make designs that are well fitting, simple and straight forward but with a twist, for example: a simple stockinette stitch turtleneck sweater with a large cable pattern up the center front and back, or a plain child’s sweater with an unusual edging. I want my designs to be fun to knit with an enjoyable end product, apropriate for a wide variety of knitters.
