Sarah V. Miller

Born and spent my early years right outside Chicago, grew up in northwest New Jersey, with family all over Michigan, I’m currently an undergrad at the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science (part of the University of Miami) majoring in Marine Biology, with minors in Chemistry and Mathematics. Right now I’m working with Aplysia californica - taking out their neural ganglia (aka brains), culturing certain cells, then subjecting them to toxins to see what kills them.

Started knitting when I was eight for a Girl Scout badge - never got the badge, but the knitting (and crochet) stuck. I’m sort of fearless: nothing is hard, just more fiddly. And I love things that are exceptionally fiddly, like intarsia in the round (which I prefer to duplicate stitch). Intricate cables are my thing, as are socks, though I do go on amigurumi stints.

Big fan of Sherlock, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Harry Potter, Neil Gaiman, and any sort of super hero movie. A bit of an anime geek (favorites include Naruto (+ Shippuden), D. Gray-man, Blue Exorcist, Fullmetal Alchemist + Brotherhood, and DBZ). Love Pokemon. Also a NPR junkie.
