I have been knitting since the age of 4 and still feel that a day without knitting is incomplete. I initially worked in Medicines Research in the UK, following a degree in Biology from Sussex University and a Masters degree in Information Science. However, I changed direction on moving to Japan in the early 1990’s to pursue a career in textiles. It was while in Japan that I added spinning, weaving and dyeing to my list of fibre obsessions, but knitting has always remained my #1 passion.
On returning to the UK, I established my own company, Wyndlestraw Designs, and now sell patterns all over the world. My design ethic is to create with nature in mind - my knitting is not only inspired by nature but I try to use natural materials whenever I can so the items can return to the earth at the end of their life.
I have a special love of reversible knitting stitches and recently published an E-Book with my daughter, Anna: Reversible Knitting Stitches - A Sourcebook of 200 Double-Sided Stitch Patterns. Please see my website for more information about this E-book.
