WWKIP Day is unique, in that it’s the largest knitter run event in the world. Each local event is put together by a volunteer or a group of volunteers. This year is the 10th anniversary of WWKIP Day! Happy Anniversary to all those knit in public knitters around the world !

Last year the Guild members hopped on a train to Sandringham and a great time was had by all. This year we thought we would go a bit further afield and travel to Hurstbridge.

We are registered WWKIPD 2015 event no. 1401.

If you want to join in, bring yourself, your knitting or crochet and your sense of adventure. On Saturday 13 June, meet up at Flinders Street station, Platform 1, around 10.15 - 10.30am to catch the 10.39 am train to Hurstbridge arriving at 11.56am.

If you want to join in from your local station there are 22 to choose from between Jolimont and Wattle Glen. We will be in the first train carriage and, if needed, fill them up as we get closer to Hurstbridge. We plan to knit on the train and at our lunch venue.

At Hurstbridge we will have lunch at the Post Office Cafe, 794 Main Street, Hurstbridge (seating is limited at this venue so alternate lunch options may be needed if we get more than 40 attendees), a browse around the shops including The Little Speckled Hen (who have yarn available if urgently needed) and others. There is a huge yarn bomb display of a crocheted train right next to the station as well.

Decide when you want to return to Melbourne. As a general guide trains returning to Flinders Street depart Hurstbridge at 12.41pm, 1.20pm, 2.00pm, 2.40pm, 3.20pm. Check the timetable if you want to return to Melbourne at a later time.

Don’t forget to click on the “I am attending” button to help us know how many will be joining in.
