Pattern description from Knit.1, Winter 2007/2008: “Halfway between grunge and hip-hop, Ruthie Nussbaum’s zip-up puffer vest with kangaroo pockets epitomizes the Nineties. It’s knit with ‘Velvet Wool’ from Nashua Handknits/Westminster Fibers in one piece to the armholes, then split for fronts and back. To get its ‘puff,’ the entire vest is worked identically twice, then sewn together over a quilt batting.”

The Measurements:

  • S (M, L, XL)
  • Bust (closed and before quilting) 38 (41.5, 45, 49)“/96.5 (105.5, 114, 124.5)cm
  • Length 22 (22.5, 23.5, 24)“/56 (57, 60, 61)cm

Notions:1 package crib-size quilt batting, 20 (20, 22, 22)“/50 (50, 55, 55)cm jacket zipper, stitch holders, tapestry needle, coordinating sewing thread.

Notes from Knit.1, Winter 2007/2008:

  1. “The schematic measurements reflect the pieces before quilting. After quilting, the finished vest will fit more snugly than the measurements suggest.”
  2. “The vest is worked in two separate pieces, then sewn together of the batting and quilted.”
