Pattern is available in English and German. Charts and written pattern included for the English version. Two files available, one with only charts (7 pages), and one with charts and written pattern together (14 pages). Deutches Version - nur charts! 8 Seiten.

Difficulty: Medium to advanced. The nupps can be left out if you’re allergic. The pattern uses double nupps, and I find them easier to work than ordinary single nupps, so do give it a try!

Yarn: Farbmasche Merino/Silk 1-ply 600. 656 yards (600 m) /100 g. 110 g or 722 yards (660 m) was used for the shawl as shown. Yarn available at www.Farbmasche.de

This pattern is also suitable for cobweb, for instance DyedianaDye Flaxensilk cobweb. A slightly heavier version of the same mix is Farbmasche Silk Linen 65 % silk, 35 % linen, 875 yards (800 m) /100 g.

With skinnier yarn, you need to work more repeats to get the same size. Take a look at the finished projects to estimate yardage and size for the yarn of your choice.

An alternative edge chart is offered, with more nupps, designed to use up more yarn in case you find you have plenty left.

Size: Adjustable, can be made both smaller and larger very easily. As shown 17 inches (43 cm) deep and 65 inches (164 cm) wingspan.

Gauge: Always use a needle size that gives you a fabric you like! Gauge is given here primarily to help you guestimate at finished size.
In the stated yarn, 18 sts and 38 rows amounts to 4x4 inches (10x10 cm) blocked and relaxed in stockinette stitch measured over the first stockinette stitch part. The stockinette stitch part (99 sts) measured 18 inches (46 cm) stretched as much as it could stretch, measured along the upper edge.

Needles and hooks: US 4 (3.5 mm) circular needle or the needle you need to get a fabric you like. A crochet hook in the same size as your needle for the BO.

Beads (optional): Size 8/0 seed beads or the size you find suitable for your yarn. 1817 seed beads are charted for shawl as shown. A chart by chart and repeat by repeat count of beads is included for those who wishes to change the size. Drop beads or dagger beads can be used for the bind off (180 dagger beads for shawl as shown).

Other notions: Stitch markers. Darning needle. A small crochet hook or the like for placing beads if you’re using beads. The pattern has some cable crossings, but they are worked without cable needle.

Construction: The shawl is worked in one piece from the top down. A very short garter tab is used, no provisional CO needed. It is bound off using a crochet hook (single crochet, slip stitches and chain stitches are used). A knitted picot BO alternative to this bind off is offered.
