Pattern description from Knit.1, Fall 2007: “The tops of these convertible mittens by Donna Childs pop off, so your hands stay warm as you jot down class notes. Work the mitts as you would a traditional pair, to the fingers, in ‘Worsted Weight’ by Claudia Hand Painted Yarns, then bind off. The cap tops are knit separately and attached.”

Notions: Stitch markers, small amount of scrap yarn
