What would a bag look like if it echoed the elegant arches, winding, narrow cobblestone streets, and timeless villas of Venice? With this question in mind, I designed the Week in Venice Satchel, a bag with an aesthetic that marries classic design with simple lines and an understanding that when form perfectly follows function something is as useful as it is beautiful.

Available in 2 sizes, this sleek, simple, elegant design is as easy to knit and finish as it is to carry. Its simplicity looks fabulous with blue jeans and pretty top, swingy frock, or classic winter coat. In muted neutrals, it can go effortlessly from Fall to Spring with most of your looks. Make it again in the colors of sorbet and it will go with you to the beach, to a party in Bermuda, or to the new restaurant across town.

Pattern Difficulty

Intrepid Easy: Requires knowledge of knitting, purling, picking up stitches within the knitted fabric, knitting in the round, decreasing. Hand-sewing and riveting are required for the finishing process.

Gauge

Pre-felted gauge: 12 sts and 16 rounds/rows over 4” (10cm) using a double- strand of yarn and size 11 (8mm) needle or needle size to obtain gauge.

Approximate Finished Dimensions

NOTE: All finished sizes are approximate. Finished sizes may vary with fiber choice, needle size, gauge, and, if felted, felting time.

Small Bag: 10” (25cm) wide x 4” (10cm) deep x 14” (36cm) tall

Large Bag: 12” (30cm) wide x 5” (13cm) deep x 16” (41cm) tall

1 Noni A Week in Venice Kit

Includes 1 Noni Eclair Turnlock
1 Noni Metal Label
2 Noni Handle Brackets to attach handle to bag
20 Cabuchon nickel rivets
1 JUL Twin Cities 18” (46cm) handle (hr-36-1n) (Handle also available in longer lengths).

1 Special Noni rivet setter kit (SrsKit) This kit is optional. You can also secure rivets using super glue! This is my new personally favorite method. Simply place rivets where you want them, click, check placement after they are all there, then take off the front (I like to put the rivet side with the long shank from inside to outside with the other rivet part on the front) and apply a dot of glue both inside the rivet top and around the tip of the shank and surrounding bag fabric. Wait a second, click back in place, hold in place for a few seconds - 15 or so. Check for a good hold in about half an hour. I use Locktite Superglue Extra Time Control in the black and green bottle.

Includes dome rivet- setter
concave anvil
& rubber mallet (to set rivets and rivet- snaps)
