ABOUT DESIGN AND PATTERN
The combination of two different types of yarn:
• a washable and dryable non-felting yarn, for the ribbed cuffs and the pom-poms
• a yarn that felts (100% wool or wool with a bit of mohair) when machine washed in hot water for the heads,
allow you to complete the covers before they go through the felting process. The cuffs knit with the washable yarn remain as stretchy as when knit. The covers are completely knit on straight needles. Then they are invisibly woven together before the felting process.
The unique head covers are generously sized to fit your largest irons. You control the size by checking on them as they are in the felting process. After they are felted and air dried add the washable wool pom-poms to the top.
Most of us who has ever felted have many bits of colors in their stash. Use any combination; even add novelty yarn to some of the squares held together with the felting yarn. Each square uses only 5 yards of felting yarn. It does not matter if none of the clubs are the same. If the cuffs on all three club covers are the same, they are a set. These colorful golf club covers will be noticed. We knit this set in 22 colors but any amount will work, even only two colors. Match any color used as a square, or a completely different color, in a machine washable and dryable to use for the cuffs and pom-poms. The easy to follow pattern includes:
• Schematic for each piece
• A helpful tracking sheet-included with pattern
• Diagrams and full explanations for techniques
• A link for substitute yarn
• A pattern helpline

MEASUREMENTS
One size fits most clubs. The finished size is controlled by how long and how many times you felt the club covers.

YARN USED FOR SAMPLE
Note:
The yarn used for the cuffs and pompoms must be machine washable and dryable.
The yarn used for the head must be 100% wool or mostly wool with a bit of mohair.
Sometimes a wool that is bleached (usually white or a very pale color) will not felt, as the bleaching process damages the fibers. Use off-white instead.

FOR CUFF AND POMPOM ONLY
A: 2 Lambs Pride Worsted Superwash
100% superwash wool—must be machine washable and dryable
3.5 ounces-(100 grams)—200-(183 m) yards each
FOR HEAD ONLY
B through W: Lamb’s Pride Worsted—must be 100% wool or wool with a bit of mohair
85% wool—15% mohair
4 ounces-(113 grams)—190 yards-(174 m) each

In other words: There are 3 golf club covers, each has 24 colored squares a total of 72 squares. We used 22 different colors (repeating 2 colors on each cover). You can use more or less colors. All colors used in the sample are listed in the pattern. Pick a color for your cuff—SUPERWASH—that matches one of your squares in the FELTING YARN.
Sometimes a wool that is bleached (usually white or a very pale color) will not felt, as the bleaching process damages the fibers.
Each square requires approximately 5 yards-(4.5 m) (0.14 ounces-(4 grams) of felting yarn, except the yarn that matches the superwash wool. You will need approximately 65 yards (42 grams) of that color for the first 2 rows after the superwash cuff, at least 3 boxes and the top decreasing rows are worked with this color felting yarn.
