I designed this Aran sweater to celebrate the sale of my first freelance design—­now thirty years ago!—which also happened to be an Aran pullover. Here, I tried to take the Aran concept in a new direction, pushing the limits of traditional shaping with asymmetry as my focus.”—Deborah Newton
