This cheery checkerboard blanket, knit in stockinette stitch with moss-stitch borders, is as simple as can be: It’s knit in Cotton DK in just three strips that are linked upon completion.

Blanket is worked in strips and seamed. Panels are knit using intarsia.
Blanket is lined.

• Pair of 4mm (US 6) knitting needles or size to obtain tension.
• 4mm (US 6) circular needle.
• Approx 130 x 130cm/51 x 51in of light-
weight pvc coated fabric.
• Approx 5.20m/6yds of 20mm/3⁄4in wide
Velcro® hook and loop sew-on fasteners (www.velcro.com) (see Notes)

NOTES
• Due to the overall weight of the rug, you may find the finished length is longer than 120cm/471⁄4in, so do not buy or cut your backing fabric until the rug is complete.
• Twist yarns at colour change to avoid holes, this applies throughout including the cast on row.
• When joining the strips, insert the sewing up needle into the edge st and “lace” the edges together, so keeping the rug flat and losing no sts in the seam.
• We have used hook and loop strip to make the backing fabric detachable to allow for laundering, but if preferred, you could fold in the raw edges and sew the fabric to the WS of the rug.
• See last page for assembly diagram if needed.
