A fairly simple diamond lace stitch looks spectacular as an all over lace in this triangular shawl.

The shawl is knit top down, beginning with a simple Garter tab. Then, the lace begins, with yarnover increases along the center line and at each edge to form the triangular shape.

The lace is both charted and written out. It is a 16-row, 8-st repeat that is easily mastered. The size of the shawl can be altered simply by knitting more or less of these 16-row repeats before the final Garter stitch border.

As an all over lace, the multi-dimensional aspects of the lace stand out beautifully. When knit in a soft, worsted-weight yarn on larger needles (as shown), the stitch pattern produces a lovely shawl with lots of visual impact and cozy warmth.

This versatile shawl design can also be knit in a thinner or thicker yarn. Just adjust the needle size and number of 16-row repeats to produce a shawl of the desired measurements that is equally stunning and beautiful as this one.
