This pattern is easy/intermediate, as the skills you need to know are - how to cast/bind on and off, knit, purl, combinations of knit and purl, make one st, making buttonholes and very simple cabling – a great introduction for those new to this. There is an option for a final rib section without buttonholes – you can cheat and simply push smaller buttons through the knitting – this is an easier option.
