A mosaic crochet pattern featuring the Zia solar symbol, a circle with four sets of four rays. The sun is sacred to the Zia people as is the number four. The Zia Pueblo is within the Four Corners region of New Mexico, US.

Mosaic Crochet:
Each row is worked flat from the front with the working yarn being cut at the end of the row. Each row is worked with one color at a time. Work one row in main color and then one row in contrasting color, alternating with each row.
Use main/background color on odd rows.
Use contrast/pattern color on even rows.
All single crochet (sc) are worked through the back loop only, except for border stitches.
All double crochet (dc) are worked down into the “dashes” of the previous row. These are the front loops of the previous sc row.
If right-handed, work from right to left on the chart,
If left-handed, work from left to right on the chart.
