A classic guy beanie with a wide band offers four variations: You can make the hat in a solid single color, or with a contrast band, or in narrow stripes with a matching or contrast band.

It’s worked from the top down in joined rounds.

SIZES
Small (Medium, Large, Extra Large)
to fit head circumferences of
21 (22, 23, 24) in./53 (56, 58, 61) cm

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
NOTE: The beanie is designed to be smaller than actual head circumference with about 2 in./5 cm of negative ease. If possible, it’s good to measure the head of the recipient to ensure a hat that fits.
Circumference at bottom edge:
18¾ (20, 21, 22) in./
47.5 (51, 53, 56) cm
Depth of Beanie:
8 in./20 cm, or desired depth

YARN
NOTE: If you want a hat that’s deeper than 8 in./20 cm, you’ll need approx. 11 yd./10 m more yarn for each extra dc round. Each dc round adds approx. ½ in./1.3 cm to hat depth.
