The pattern contains instructions for either a round neck or v neck cardigan to fit chest sizes from 41 to 66cms/16 to 26ins. The opening at the front is fastened with buttons attached to the left front of the cardigan when worn and buttonholes on the right front, as worn.

The back and both fronts are knitted flat from the bottom upwards and commence with a frill border design before working the remainder of the pieces in stocking stitch with raglan shaping to the neckline.

The v-neck cardigan fronts incorporate a garter stitch button/buttonhole band at the time of knitting ie. stitches are not picked up for these bands after the fronts have been completed. Back neck border extensions continue from the button/buttonhole bands and are attached to the top of the sleeves and the back after the raglan armholes have been seamed. The round neck cardigan border is worked in garter stitch after the seaming has been completed and the stitches are picked up and knitted.

The long sleeves are worked flat and start with a garter stitch border at the bottom. Stocking stitch forms the rest of the sleeves which are increased to the underarm and then worked with raglan shaping to the neckline.
