In a strange fit of nostalgia recently I went on a Google search for 1980s afghans looking for something goofy and fun and only found classic afghan patterns done in gross colors that only matched Grandma’s chintz sofa you had completely blocked from your memory or your mom’s Southwestern craze where overnight everything became dusty mauve and teal. Not sure what I was looking for exactly but I knew the things I found weren’t it.

This pattern is an unholy amalgamation of Shelly Kang’s Sock Yarn Blanket and a confetti-print dress from the JC Penney’s catalog I coveted in high school way back in 1984.

Afghan measures 46” x 68” and when folded fits into the 16” x 16” buttoned pillowcase.
