This “Mr Twit” beard was made for Roald Dahl Day - the beard and wig would be equally usable for Hagrid, or any other costumes. The instructions on the blog include a very simple pattern for the beard only (which is knitted) and there are tips for making the wig shape (basically a crocheted circle).

MATERIALS:

  • 4 balls of Scheepjes Peggy in black
  • 12 mm knitting needles for the beard
  • 10 mm crochet hook for the ‘hair’

(for Mr Twit, add small creatures and bits of old food made from various small scraps of yarn)

SKILLS:
For beard

  • Casting on
  • Garter stitch
  • Binding off
  • backward loop cast on (mid-row)

For wig
- crochet circle (or freeform crochet in a roughly circular shape)

The yarn used is available in the Netherlands, or from Dutch Scheepjes stockists (many ship internationally).
