I’m a huge fan of J.R.R. Tolkien. Huge. I can’t even count the number of times I’ve read the Lord of the Rings, not to mention the Hobbit. My favorite characters, probably because I would be one myself if I lived in Middle Earth, are the hobbits. I love their fierce loyalty to each other, their unquenchable love of fun, good cheer, eating. As Gandalf said, ““My dear Frodo! Hobbits really are amazing creatures, as I have said before. You can learn all that there is to know about their ways in a month, and yet after a hundred years they can still surprise you at a pinch.”

These socks are a tribute to my favorite characters. They are knit top-down, and are of average stretchiness. There are four sizes to choose from; pick the stitch count that you most commonly use.

One average-sized skein of sock yarn should be enough to accommodate most feet. If you generally need more yarn, make sure to have enough on hand.

Designer sample knit with A Star is Shorn Nebula yarn.
At least one test knit was made with Cascade Heritage Silk.

NOTE: There will be an option to add beads.
