Who doesn’t like spending a day at the beach? Lying back on the warm sand, while the waves lap gently on the shore …
This bag won’t just let you carry everything you need for a day of leisure, it lets you carry the beach with you wherever you go!

A Day at the Beach starts with a garter stitch square for a base, then stitches are picked up around the edges, and the rest of the bag is worked in the round. The lace pattern for the waves is both written and charted.

This pattern takes less than a full skein each of two colors. In fact, if you want to make it in a single color, you can probably do it with one skein, but have a second one on hand just in case.

Materials and Notions

  • Knit Picks CotLin; Linen (color A), 1 skein; Surf (color B) (sample used discontinued color Desert Turquoise), 1 skein
  • US 5/3.75mm needles for small circumference knitting, plus 2 double-pointed for i-cord
  • waste yarn (optional, for provisional cast-on)
  • stitch marker (optional)
  • safety pin or locking stitch marker
  • tapestry needle or crochet hook for weaving in ends

The pattern includes links to resources for provisional cast-on and Kitchener stitch.

I’d like to thank: my Ravelry testers (NEpatty, brncow, abby310, sowmyakrishna, mugdhamanasa, and SnookiesOz) and my tech editor (eledixon) for all their hard work!
