A picturesque china doll topped tea cozy (cosy) whose knitted lace, embroidered panniered skirts hide the teapot. The skirt lining and panniers are in a contrast color wool. (Please note that the photo caption is incorrect about the color, according to the written instructions and materials list.)

The instructions start on page 147 of 164.

This pattern uses UK terminology and vintage needle sizing.

Materials:

  • 3 ounces of green DK wool for the lace patterned skirt and embroidery on the panniers
  • 3 (to 4) ounces of lilac DK wool for the stockinette skirt lining and the moss stitch panniers
  • 1 china head with bust (half body doll)

Needles:

  • Vintage sized 6.

Gauge:

  • 6 stitches of pattern repeat = 1.5 inches

Construction:

  • The skirt and lining are worked from the bottom up.
  • The two panniers are worked from the top down.

Finished Measurements:

  • 25” all around bottom of skirt
  • 8” high
