I was asked by a dear friend to design a sock for autism. The symbol for autism is a puzzle piece. Autism affects 1 in 110 children.

Knit cuff down, the sock has a puzzle theme mosaic pattern on the leg. The heel flap features a puzzle piece for autism. Pattern also includes information on adjusting for a small size sock.

Sock requires 100 gms of a main color and 50 gms of a contrasting color. Puzzle mosaic may also be knit with two contrasting colors with a third used for the cuff and the remainder of the leg and foot.

Gauge in Mosaic Pattern: 8 sts/inch using 2.75 mm needles.

A pattern for a mini sock (Murphy Stands Up to Autism), designed by Meagheen Ryan, is also included with your purchase of “A Piece of the Puzzle.”

Special thanks to Meagheen Ryan for designing the puzzle piece heel flap, to Angie Kachelmeier for test knitting and for knitting “A Piece of the Puzzle”, and to Sally Knotwell for knitting “Murphy Stands Up for Autism.”

All proceeds from the sale of this pattern will be donated to the HollyRod Foundation which provides support to children with autism and their families

Pattern now available as Ravelry Download or through Meagheen’s etsy shop.
