Whether you have secret fantasies about eggnog by firelight with Ian Hanomansing and Rosie Barton, or someone you love would rather celebrate public radio than the holiday season, this stocking is for you.

A quick knit in festive (and affordable!) chunky wool/acrylic blend yarn means you’ll spend more time and money stuffing this stocking than knitting it, so you’ll have more time to spend by firelight with Ian. Or your cat.

This stocking is knit flat from cuff down in an inexpensive and bulky wool/ acrylic blend yarn, joined in the round after the colourwork. You’ll place an afterthought heel and toe with contrast yarn, kitchener the toe and heel closed, and seam up the top of the stocking for a 10-20 hour project.

This project requires just over one skein of MC (red) yarn and about 90 yards of white (CC) yarn, and makes a nice roomy stocking, plenty of space to be stuffed with old Vinyl Cafe Collections and Grant Lawrence’s latest book.

We’ve talked about this pattern on the Knitter Punks Podcast! episode 13 & 14
