A spring romance

A delight for lace knitters with a feel of sophistication with a bit of fantasy and fun. This is rectangular shawl signifies that spring is coming. Oh and don’t let the lace all over look intimidate you, as it really is easier than you might think.

Starting out with a gorgeous middle lace panel, after which the contrasting color and new stitch pattern gets added and knitted sideways on either side of lace.

Measurements blocked: Length 65.5” long, middle lace panel 13” in height and 10” in width, each side panel is 27” long and 12” wide as shown here.

The pattern is written and uses charts for both stitch patterns as well. To ensure (hopefully) correctness it was tech edited and test knitted. Thank you to my editor and all the test knitters for your help to get this pattern published!

Yarn
Bambon, a DK weight Bamboo/cotton yarn, super soft yet with great structure, lending a crisp look.
C1 Lime 1 skein, 77 yards used.
C2 Lilac 3 skeins, 405 yards used.
Available at www.yarnz2go.com

Alternatively, any Dk weight yarn will do, keeping in mind that wool may have a bit more of a condensed look.

NOTE: Test knitters were using a variety of combinations to create their shawls from knitting it in one single color, to variegated side panels, used hand spun yarns and a few used the original yarn as shown.
