Here’s a warm winter hat that is easily packed away in your purse or carry-on bag. And the Rivulet Stitch lace pattern embellishment gives the hat a unique look. You can make the hat even more travel-friendly by opting to forego the pompom.

A Traveler’s Beanie is loom knit on the 1/2” gauge Leisure Arts oval loom with 54 pegs. The pattern can easily be used on an All N One or equivalent loom, set to the appropriate number of pegs.

The beanie uses approximately 145 yards of a dk yarn. Or the hat can be knit holding 3 strands of a lace weight yarn as one when knitting. This can be accomplished by rolling 3 separate balls of yarn and using 1 strand from each ball. Or you can use the “Navajo Method” of making 3 strands of yarn from 1 strand.

The sample was knit using 440 yards of Knit Picks Gloss yarn, using the Navajo Method of making 3 strands of yarn from 1 strand. The pattern gives the link to a great YouTube video that demonstrates the Navajo Method.

The pattern includes a photo tutorial on the steps of the easy-to-master 2-Row Rivulet Stitch pattern and is suitable for an advanced beginner.
